The Commission’s has identified 319 key European seaports which are essential for the efficient functioning of the internal market and the European economy2, of these 83 are recognised as being “core network” ports3. The Commission’s port review focuses on these 319 ports as a basis for a highly functioning European ports network managing 96% of goods and 93% of passengers which transit through the EU ports.
