On 15th March 2011, MEP Georgios Koumoutsakos presented his draft report to the Transport and Tourism (TRAN) committee at the European Parliament. This report supports the European Commission proposal to financially support an integrated maritime policy during 2011-2013.
The Integrated Maritime policy was established by the European Union in 2007 and advocates an integrated approach to policies of the maritime. The recent proposal from the European Commission aims at strengthening the policy by establishing a financial regulation of 50 million Euros for the next 3 years. The funding will reinforce and will allow the continuation of the activities and pilot projects operating up to now under the policy.
