The European Commission has requested Austria, Estonia, Germany and the UK to transpose the Directive on Common Safety Indicators for railway safety and common methods to calculate accident costs. These countries has yet to notify the European Commission whether their national legislation comply with the aforementioned directive.

Under EU infringement procedure, these countries must inform the European Commission within two months whether their national legislation is with compliance of the directive. In case these countries will fail to hold the deadline, the European Commission has the option to turn to the Court of Justice for further procedures.
